🎉 Compassion by Design Receives 2026 AARP Community Challenge Grant

Compassion by Design, Inc. is proud to announce that we have been selected as a 2026 AARP Community Challenge Grant recipient. We are one of 750 grantees chosen nationwide as part of this historic program, which is celebrating its milestone 10th anniversary year.

About the AARP Community Challenge

The AARP Community Challenge is a grant program that helps make communities more livable for people of all ages by supporting tangible, quick-action improvements that spark long-term change.

In 2026, AARP doubled its investment in the program, awarding $8.3 million—the largest number of Community Challenge grants to date—across all 50 states, Washington, D.C., Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands.

Since its launch in 2017, the Community Challenge has funded thousands of projects that help make communities more walkable, vibrant, accessible, and connected. The program supports quick-action projects that inspire lasting change in areas including:

  • Public spaces

  • Housing

  • Transportation

  • Digital connectivity

  • Disaster resilience

Our Project: The Prepared Caregiver Corner™

With support from this grant, Compassion by Design is launching the Prepared Caregiver Corner™, a new segment of our Legacy Forum Series designed to help family caregivers prepare for emergencies and unexpected situations.

The Prepared Caregiver Corner™ focuses on three core areas:

Emergency Preparedness

Equipping caregivers with practical tools, plans, and resources to respond effectively during crises.

Caregiver Support

Providing education, community connection, and emotional support for those caring for aging loved ones.

Disaster Resilience

Building community-wide capacity to withstand and recover from unexpected events.

Consistent with the Community Challenge's quick-action model, all project activities will be completed by December 15, 2026.
